1950s Duane Jewels Rita Moreno Emerald Green Necklace and Earrings Set in Original Box
Bright silvertone heavy link choker chain with 16 dark emerald green rhinestones prong set between every other link that’s soldered together. The choker has a hook clasp and has a hang tag that says “DUANE”. The choker measures 15 3/4″ long. The earrings are 3 soldered bright silvertone links with 2 dark emerald green rhinestones prong set on them. Clips are unmarked and in good working condition. Earrings measure 1″ x 1/2″. The necklace has the original tag that has a picture of Rita Moreno on it. One side says “AS BRIGHT AS THE STARS AS WORN BY THE STARS” and “RITA MORENA Co-starring ‘YELLOW TOMAHAWK’ In Color Released thru United Artists” and “Duane Jewels”. The other side says “YOU SAW THIS ADVERTISED IN SEVENTEEN AND GLAMOUR.” Yellow Tomahawk came out in May of 1954, so I’m guessing this set came out the same year. The set comes in the original box which has blue and pink flowers on gold-colored branches on the lid. It’s made to look like material. The bottom part of the box is light blue and silver and has an off-white satin insert that holds the earrings and necklace. It doesn’t match the top but they fit together perfectly and this was the way I purchased it, so not sure if this is the way it was originally or not. I always love jewelry like this that marks a moment in history and connects itself to a point in time. It’s hard to believe this piece is approximately 70 years old! It looks brand new.
