Antique Chinese Good Luck/Longevity Lock Necklace with Bell Charms

Old Chinese good luck/longevity lock necklace given as a gift to newborn children to “lock” their spirit to the earth for long life and health. One side has Chinese writing on it, and the other side has 3 bearded Chinese men around a table. The pendant is hollow and has a little slot on the side, which I am unaware of its purpose. The chain ends at 2 round geometric buttons that slip into the top of the pendant. There are 2 silver balls that hang from the chain that have rattles inside of them like bell charms; these are to ward off evil spirits. The chain measures 24″ long. Each dangling ball charm measures 3/4″ across. The pendant measures 2 3/8″ x 1 3/4″. I believe this necklace is silver, although it is unmarked. A magnet does not stick to it.
