Coro Duette Lovebirds Pin
$375.00
This is a Coro Duette brooch that is a bright silvertone and has 2 fur clips of cockatiels, or lovebirds, sitting on a branch of flowers, that fit together on an armature. The birds’ bodies are encrusted in clear rhinestones. There are also clear rhinestones in the center of each flower. The birds wings and tail feathers are blue enamel and their beaks are yellow enamel. There is a small red dot of enamel on the eyes. The flowered branches are green, pink, blue, yellow, red, and purple enamel. The left bird measures 3 3/8” long by 1” wide and the right bird measures 3 1/8” long by 1” wide. Duette when together is 3 1/2” long by 2″ wide. The back of the armature is marked “Coro Duette” in cursive writing and “PAT. No. 1798867” which shows the patent was applied for May 31, 1930 and was patented on March 31, 1931. The back of the left bird is marked “PAT. No. 11649” and an unreadable number. This patent number was actually incorrectly stamped on this pin and should actually read “126490”, which is a design patent of Gene Verrecchio which was applied for on March 3, 1941 and was patented on April 8, 1941. This pin looks like it has never been worn; all rhinestones are present and accounted for. An amazing work of art!
